Setup instructions for setting up a Adbrand with LCD & KMU (or an LCD with built in KMU)
Before proceeding it is important that the Internet connection for the location is already setup. Without Internet connection, the Adbrand cannot be activated.
Before proceeding ensure that the LCD & the CPU meet the basic standards of a Adbrand. Check the “What is the basic standard of a Adbrand? under the FAQ section for more information.
Step 1: Unpack the LCD Screen and KMU (Adbrand Unit). Ensure that the following list of accessories is supplied with the units.
- Power supply cable for the KMU (shipped with the KMU)
- Power supply cable for the LCD screen (shipped with the LCD) and
- VGA (video) cable for connecting the KMU to LCD (Shipped with the LCD if procured from Adbrand )
* For an LCD with built in KMU, only the power supply cable is required.
Step 2: Install & position the LCD Screen strategically, so that it is clearly visible to the patrons at the premises. Ideally the screen should be installed at least 6 feet from the ground with 3 feet clearance around it. The screen could be wall mounted or hanging from the ceiling or stand mounted. If the LCD is purchased from Adbrand , please follow the installation guide sent along with the LCD screen to mount the Adbrand. If the LCD is procured from an external source refer to the manufacturer’s manual.
Step 3: Connect the LCD screen to the power supply using the power cable shipped with the LCD as illustrated in the image below. If you are using an LCD with built in KMU, switch on the main power & turn on the LCD by switching on the on/off button on back of the LCD. Connect a Keyboard & a Mouse, to the green & violet ports on the back of the LCD (see step 8 for illustration) and follow instructions from Step 10.
Step 4: Install the KMU. The KMU has to be wall mounted and should be secured with screws. Please follow the installation guide sent along with the KMU unit for proper installation.
Step 5: Ideally the KMU should be placed close to the LCD screen so that it is convenient to connect a Keyboard & a mouse during the Adbrand activation process & during troubleshooting of any issues.
Step 6: Connect the LCD to the KMU using the VGA Cable shipped with the LCD. Connect one end of the VGA cable into the blue VGA port of the KMU and the other end to the blue VGA port of the LCD screen as illustrated in the image below
Note: The connectors on both the ends of the VGA cable are same & can be interchanged.
Step 7: Connect the Internet cable jack into the network port present on the KMU as shown in the figure below. If you are using Internet by setting up a wireless access point, then the wireless antenna present on the KMU will detect the signal & you should be able to configure the connection. If you intend to use wireless internet through a USB device then connect the USB device to the USB port on the KMU.
Step 8: Connect a Keyboard & a computer Mouse to the KMU as illustrated in the below image.
Step 9: Ensure that all cables are secure & the main power to the LCD & KMU are switched on. Turn on the LCD. Turn on the KMU by pressing the red power button on the unit, the power LED will glow to indicate that electric power is supplied to the unit.
Step 10: The Adbrand will start up with the windows booting process & after successfully loading the operating system an image similar to the one given below shall appear on the screen. Before proceeding with the activation, ensure that the Internet is properly setup & functioning.
Step 11: Enter the Adbrand ID & the Activation Code sent in the “Adbrand – Approval Confirmation ? email, in the designated fields and click on ‘Activate’ Button.
Final Step: On successful activation, the Adbrand will begin a count down as shown in the image below. On completing the countdown, the Adbrand will start displaying non-commercial Adbrand default videos, confirming proper setup of your Adbrand.
The Adbrand setup process is now complete. The Keyboard & mouse can be disconnected. The Adbrand will receive the latest ads scheduled for it and will start displaying them as soon as possible.
Remember:
- It is important to have continued active internet connection for the Adbrand, for it to remain active on the network. You will not earn credit for the display of Ads when your internet connection is inactive.
- The Adbrand is programmed to automatically shutdown at the end of the day, hence be sure to turn on the Adbrand on the next day when the business starts.
